15 achievers and 4 organizations get District Kannada Rajyotsava Awards

Mangaluru: To mark the Kannada Rajyotsava, the district administration held a procession of Kannada Bhuvaneshwari from the Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan where the Rajyotsava celebrations were held, here on November 1.

The Kannada Rajyotsava programme began with the state anthem. District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai hoisted the national flag and later received the guard of honour. A colourful parade was organized on the occasion.

Delivering the Kannada Rajyotsava address, district minister-in-charge Ramanath Rai highlighted various projects implemented by the state government for the development of Dakshina Kannada district.

Rai further said, “Kannada Nadu is a holy land, it is the land of our birth and Kannada has its own identity with its unique tradition and culture. When we celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava on this day, we should respect the Kannada language too”.

Briefing on the projects, Rai said that the government has taken all measures to promote Kannada in the district. “Now it is the duty of every individual to implement the Kannada language. Our aim is to build a progressive State and the government has already implemented people-friendly projects, especially for welfare and education”.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Commissioner Dr Sasikanth Senthil, Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative council Ivan D’Souza, President of Dakshina Kannada District, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Police Commissioner T R Suresh, SP Sudheer Reddy, Deputy Mayor Rajaneesh and other officers were also present.

District Rajyostava awards were presented to 15 achievers and four organizations by Ramanath Rai on the occasion. Students from various schools presented a cultural programme.
