15 Passengers Injured as Bus Rams into Parked Truck at Udayvar
Udupi: Nearly 15 passengers were injured when a private bus crashed a parked truck on National Highway 66 near Halima Sabju Auditorium, Udyavar here on Wednesday, May 23.
According to the police, the bus was on its way to Mangaluru. When the driver tried to overtake another vehicle from the inner side, he lost control and rammed into a parked truck. The truck had developed a technical fault and was parked on the service road of NH 66. Nearly 15 passengers were grievously injured and were shifted to private hospitals.
The left side of the bus was damaged in the accident. The seats were also completely damaged. The impact of the accident was so severe that the parked truck had flipped over onto the nearby field.
The Kaup police have visited the spot.
Generally, it is not all safe to travel in these private Udupi-Mangalore Express buses, as the drivers are careless and irresponsible and illiterate with a bad attitude and short commute time to compete with other private buses on this route. Durgama buses have the most accidents statistic will tell. Speeding is one of the first causes of these express buses besides racing each other for time.
