15-year-old girl Sexually Assaulted in KSRTC bus, accused remanded JC till July 24
Udupi: The district and sessions court, Udupi has remanded all three accused who had sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in the KSRT bus in Ranebennur of Haveri District, to judicial custody till July 24.
The girl, a native of Belagavi presently residing in Manipal, had gone to Ranebennur in the KSRTC bus on July 5 and was travelling alone. The three men, Yuvraj Kattekar (45) conductor of KSRTC Ranebennur of Haveri District, driver Veeraiah Heremath (40) and additional Driver Raghavendra Badiger (43). who allegedly committed the crime on July 5 night after halting the bus at a village of Ranebennur.
The girl who returned to Udupi on July 8 informed the incident to her parents. The girls parents then filed a complaint in the Udupi women’s police station. Based on the complaint of the girl the police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The Police conducted an inquiry and arrested all the three from Ranebennur and seized the KSRTC bus. The Police have brought the accused to Udupi and produced them before the district and sessions court judge where they were remanded to judicial custody till July 24. The All three accused have been sent to Hiriyadka District Prison.

Under the direction of SP of Udupi K T Balakrishna, DySP Kumaraswami the operation was carried out by Udupi CPI Naveenchandra Jogi, Udupi women’s Police Station PSI Kalpana B, ASI Vijaya, Umesh, Jeevan, Arun, Balakrishna, Imran, Prasanna, Joythi Nayak, Sumana, Malathi, Shruthi and Mahabaleshwar.
