15-year-old girl Sexually assaulted in KSRTC bus, 3 arrested
Udupi: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two drivers and the conductor in a KSRT bus in Ranebennur of Haveri District. All the three have been arrested by Udupi police on Monday, July 10.
The arrested have been identified as Yuvaraj Kattekar (45) conductor of KSRTC Ranebennur of Haveri District, driver Veeraiah Heremath (40) and additional Driver Raghavendra Badiger (43).
According to the police the 15-year-old girl native of Belagavi presently residing in Manipal, had gone alone to Ranebennur in the KSRTC bus recently.
The three men, who allegedly committed the crime on July 5 night after halting the bus at a village of Ranebennur.
The girl who returned to Udupi on July 8 informed the incident to her parents. The girls parents filed a complaint in the Udupi women’s police station. Based on the complaint of the girl the police have registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The Police conducted an inquiry and arrested all the three from Ranebennur and seized the KSRTC bus. The Police have brought the accused to Udupi and produced them before the court.
