154 Vehicles Seized for Lockdown Violations, Ban on Private Vehicles from April 3 – Dr Harsha
Mangaluru: The city police have seized 154 vehicles for lockdown violations in the police commissionerate on April 2.
Dr Harsha in his tweeter message has said, “A total ban on the movement of private vehicles including two-wheelers and cars was imposed from 12:30 pm on April 2. People could avail ambulance services for emergency medical needs”.
Police commissioner Dr Harsha had also requested the public saying, (“I appeal everyone to help us fight COVID-19 and together we can”) to comply with the instructions and avoid inconvenience.
Some people with a “Don’t care attitude” did not heed the instructions and took their vehicles on the road. The police who have been strictly monitoring the vehicular movement has so far seized 154 vehicles flouting the lockdown conditions.
In his video message Dr Harsha said, “To prevent more vehicles from moving on the roads, we have banned all the private vehicles from April 3. Since the Coronavirus is spreading very fast, we need to do everything in our power to prevent the virus from spreading. I urge everyone to stay at home. If anyone wants to buy any essential items, they should buy from nearby shops without using their vehicles. For any medical emergency, you can call 108 or toll-free number 1077”.
Dr Harsha further said, “Doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital administrators will be allowed to travel in their private vehicles from home to work. Media fraternity will be allowed if they have a valid pass issued by DIPR or issued by the Information department.”
