Montevideo, Nov 27 (IANS) Football stars Diego Godin, Fernando Muslera, Diego Rolan, Christian Stuani, Josema Gimenez and other members of Uruguay’s national team posed with cats and dogs up for adoption for a calendar in support of the Animals without Homes (ASH) group.
The calendar was sponsored by the Fundacion Celeste foundation, which was created to promote sports values in the education of children, teens and young people through football, with a focus on the country’s poorest areas, reports Efe.
The backstage video shot during the photo sessions and posted on the internet also shows players Sebastian Coates, Brian Lozano, Gaston Silva, Egidio Arevalo Rios, Mathias Corujo, Nicolas Lodeiro and Maxi Pereira posing with pets.
“For their 2016 calendar, they couldn’t have come up with a better idea than to put players together with cats and dogs. By combining efforts, we show that we can give opportunities to those who most need our help,” ASH said on its YouTube channel, on Thursday.
Each year, national team players pose for the charity calendar, and the 2016 version will be available in December.
ASH was established in 2003 as a non-profit organisation operated exclusively by volunteers.
