Udupi: Two Ayyappa Devotees Drown in Karamballi Temple Pond

Udupi: Two Ayyappa devotees drowned in a pond at Karamballi Venkatramana Temple here, on Sunday, November 29.

The deceased have been identified as Uday (28) and Ashok(29), residents of Karamballi.

According to sources, both Uday and Ashok had gone to take a bath in the pond around 11 am on Sunday. When Ashok slipped in the pond, Uday went to his rescue but unfortunately, he also drowned. Other devotees and locals who rushed for help were unable to save them. Their bodies were retrieved by locals along with the fire and rescue service personnel. The bodies were later shifted to the Government hospital for post-mortem.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj visited Government hospital Ajjarkad and consoled the family members.

The Manipal police have registered a case.
