Kolkata, Dec 20 (IANS) Elite athletes on Sunday had a tough time running on Kolkata roads during the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K run as rickshaws and even dogs came in their way on a foggy morning.
Asian games bronze medallist and current national record holder in Marathon O.P. Jaisha shared her unpleasant experience with the media after finishing third with a timing of 1:28:05 at the event.
“There was a lot of traffic on the streets. Dogs, rickshaws, cars came in our way while we were running which was very disturbing.
“Sometimes these things were happening when we were running fast,” Jaisha said.
Sudha Singh (1:27:31) and Lalita Babar (1:27:47) grabbed the first and second place, respectively.
Sudha Singh said there were no pilot cars for the athletes running in the event. “We were not given a pilot car. It was difficult to run.”
