17 Medical Undergraduates of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore Awarded ICMR STS 2024 Grant

Mangaluru: We proudly announce that 17 medical undergraduates from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, have been awarded the prestigious Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Short-Term Studentship (STS) grant for 2024.

The STS initiative is designed to provide research opportunities for undergraduate medical and dental students, equipping them with essential skills in research methodologies, scientific writing, and research ethics early in their medical careers. This grant allows students to embark on independent projects under the mentorship of their professors or to contribute to ongoing research projects led by their seniors or faculty members.

Each awarded student will receive a stipend of ₹60,000 (effective from 2024), distributed in three installments, for six months of research work. In addition, students will earn an e-certificate upon completion of their projects, further enhancing their academic and professional profiles.

This achievement underscores Kasturba Medical College’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture among its students and preparing them for future roles as innovative and capable physicians.

Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore is a pioneer in incorporating research in medical education curriculum way back in 2000.
