177 Persons Test Positive and 6 Die of COVID-19 in DK
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, 177 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 6 persons have died of COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on August 20.
Out of the 177 cases tested positive, 107 persons are from Mangaluru, 14 from Bantwal, 16 from Puttur, 12 from Sullia, 12 from Belthangady, and 16 from other districts.
Out of the 177 positive cases, 88 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), 17 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 29 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 43 others.
Meanwhile, 187 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery. So far 9712 positive cases have been reported in the district and 296 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 2287 active cases in the district.
All the 177 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospitals for further treatment.
