18-month-old boy killed by pickup truck at Malpe
Udupi: An 18-month-old boy was killed in an accident at Hoode, Malpe here, on June 2.
The deceased has been identified as Basavaraj, son of Rajappa, a native of Shirahatti of Gadag.
According to the police, the incident took place in the afternoon when Basavaraj was playing on the footpath near Malpe Paradise hotel. A Bolero pickup came out of nowhere, drove over the footpath and hit the child. Basavaraj was killed on the spot. The body has been sent to the government hospital Ajjarkad for post-mortem.
A case has been registered in the Malpe Police Station.
