18-year-old from Mumbai Commits Suicide at Friend’s House in Kemmannu
Udupi: An 18-year-old boy from Mumbai who was suffering from depression, committed suicide by hanging himself at his friends’ house at Hoode near Kemmannu on September 24 night.
The deceased has been identified as Neil D’Cruz (18), son of Jacintha D’Cruz, a resident of Mumbai. He was the only son and was pursuing BA degree in Mumbai.
According to the Malpe PSI, Neil was suffering from depression for a long time and was under medical treatment. Doctors had advised Jacintha D’Cruz that Neil was under severe depression and needed a change. As per the Doctor’s advice, Jacintha sent Neil to Padu Thonse with his friend Walter.
On Thursday Night Neil used a dog lash and hanged himself in his friends’ house. Family members who noticed it rushed Neil to the nearby hospital at Santhekatte. Later while he was being shifted to the KMC hospital, Manipal he breathed his last on the way.
A case has been registered in Malpe police station.
