18th Annual Rotary Orphanage Olympics
Mangaluru: “Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central jointly with Rotaract Club of Mangaluru city will be organising their 18th Annual Rotary Orphanage Olympics and Cultural meet on Sunday 27 November 2016 at the Sharada Vidyalaya premises. A daylong event of Sports And Cultural carnival is organised as part of their community development project. About 600 children residing in 10 different orphanages will participate in this Grand event”, said Organizing committee chairman Rtn. Dr Devdas Rai addressing the media members.
He also revealed that Chancellor of Nitte University Dr Vinay Hegde will grace the occasion as chief guest and will inaugurate the meet at 9:00 am, president of Sharada group of Institutions M B Puranik and Rotary Dist 3181 zone 2 Asst Governor Rtn. Vinayak Prabhu will be the guests of honour. President of Rotary Club Rtn. Anil Gonsalves will preside over the function.
“The Inter Orphanage sports event comprises of 100 mtrs race, Frog Race, Sack Race, Lemon and Spoon Race, Book balancing Race, and Tug of war as a team event. The Cultural competition will be in the afternoon session. After the spectacular and colourful March past by the different teams, children’s will be showcasing their sports skills and cultural Talents. R.I Dist 3181 Governor Rtn. Dr R S Nagarjun will be the chief guest at the valedictory function at 05:00 pm and award the prizes and present the trophy to the team champions”, added Rtn Dr Rai.
Rtn. Anil Gonsalves, President of Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central, Rotaract Club President Rtr. Yathish Salian, Past president of Rotary club Santhosh Shet were also present in the press meet.
