19 Teams with over 500 volunteers Visit 2000 Houses and Shops for RKM’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan

Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carried out 19 daily awareness campaigns in connection with its Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan from 04 April to 30 April 2018 in various parts of Mangaluru. About 500 volunteers in 19 teams visited nearly 2000 houses and shops creating awareness among the residents and vendors.

V T Road: Devotees of Gokarna Math carried out the 96th daily awareness campaign in Vithoba Temple Road. Volunteers visited more than 100 houses under Kamalaksha Pai and created awareness among the public by distributing handbills.

Bendoorwell Circle: Nearly 40 students of Sahyadri Engineering College visited more than 100 shops & vendors and urged them to keep dustbins and appeal to their customers to use dustbins to dispose of trash. Sreelatha Ullal coordinated the 97th drive.

Ashoknagar: Members of Team Prerana and Sowjanya Mahila Mandali organized 98th drive on Ashok Nagar road. They visited local households and shops and distributed awareness handbills. They also cleaned the area by removing the plastic waste. Sadananda Upadhyaya coordinated the drive.

Bandar: Students of GFGC Car Street met nearly 150 shopkeepers and owners, they distributed awareness handbills and urged them to keep the area clean. Prof. Sheshappa Amin guided the students in the 99th drive.

Padil: Volunteers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan stopped garbage being piled up in the already cleaned Padil junction area and urged the local residents to hand over garbage to the Waste collection vehicle and keep their area clean. Kodange Balakrishna Naik coordinated the 100th drive.

Highlands: 101st Swacchata Jagruti Abhiyan was carried out by members of Lions Club, Mangalore in Highlands, Falnir region. Sadashiva Rai, Suresh Shetty and other members requested the public to keep their area clean and distributed handbills on awareness.

Bikarnakatte: Members of Friends for Ever, Yeyyadi carried out the 102nd drive in Mangalore – Sholapur highway near Bikarnakatte. Shubhoday Alva coordinated the volunteers.

Marnamikatte: With the intention of keeping the region between Marnamikatta and road leading towards Nandigudda litter free, volunteers carried out 103rd drive. Chirag, Prajwal & other youths actively participated in the drive.

Chilimbi: Inmates of OBC hostel at Chilimbi visited nearly 100 households in the Kuloor Ferry Road and carried out the awareness campaign. They urged the residents to hand over the collected garbage to waste management people who collect garbage daily and not to litter outside.

Yekkur: volunteers of Swacch Yekkur team organized 105th awareness drive in Yekkur area. Prashanth Yekkur & others visited homes door to door and urged them to keep their surroundings clean.

Attavar: Team members of Swacch Attavar visited houses in Nandigudda road and distributed handbills on awareness. Mohammad Shameem, Akshith Attavar and others participated in the drive.

Deralakatte: Students of Nitte College of Physiotherapy arranged a special programme on awareness in Deralakatte. Chandrakanth Kulkarni of Pune participated in a special programme arranged to create awareness. This was followed by students visiting different hostels in the premises and urging the students to keep their campus & surroundings clean. Dr Dhanesh Kumar & College staff participated in the 106th drive.

Pandeshwar: Employees of Sriram Transport Finance Company took up the 107th drive under the guidance of Sharat Chandra, DGM in Old Kent Road. They urged the people to keep their surroundings clean.

Nagori: Members of Vivekananda Youth Forum organized the 108th drive in Nagori area on both sides of Mangalore-Bangalore Highway. Members visited shops and vendors in 2 teams and urged them to use dustbins and keep their area clean. Nallur Sachin Shetty coordinated the team.

Kodikal: Members of Team Swacch Kodikal visited several houses in Kodikal region and distributed handbills. Suma Kodikal, Chittaranjan Srinivas & other members participated in the 109th drive.

Mulihithlu: Members of Sri Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir visited households and shops in Mulihithlu area and distributed handbills. And urged the people to keep their area clean and not to litter on the roads. Punith coordinated 109th drive.

Vamanjoor: Members of Swacch Vamanjoor team carried out the 110th drive in Vamanjoor. Sudhir guided the team of volunteers in contacting the local residents and vendors in the region and distributed handbills.

Mannagudda: Members of Team Art of Living visited several households in Petlandpet Road and urged the residents to keep their area and surroundings clean. Sadashiva Kamath coordinated the 111th drive.

Mangaladevi: Members of Nivedita Balaga organized 112th awareness campaign in Mangaladevi area. They visited nearly 100 households and urged the localites to keep the area clean. Vijayalakshmi guided the volunteers.

Brahmacharis Lokesh, Chidananda, Nishchay, Vinod, Rajashekhar of Ramakrishna Math led the daily Abhiyan on behalf of Ramakrishna Mission. Umanath Kotekar & Abhishek V S coordinated the daily awareness campaign.
