19-year-old Amogha Shetty Drowns while Rescuing Friend
Kundapur: A 19-year-old youth drowned when he tried to rescue his friend in the Shedigundi, Kumbaramakki River in Shankarnarayana on May 5.
The deceased has been identified as Amogh Shetty (19) son of Subbanna Shetty resident of Moodubage. He was a second-year student of St Mother Theresa PU College Shankarnarayana.
According to the police, Amogh Shetty along with eight of his friends had gone for swimming in the Kumbaramakki River on Friday, May 5. All the seven youth ventured into the river to swim, all of a sudden, one among them slipped and fell into the deep waters and cried for help. Amogh Shetty who was sitting on the river bank jumped into the river to help his friend. Without knowing how to swim. Amogh drowned in the water and lost his life. Amogh’s friend who was in danger was pulled out of the water with the help of others.
A case has been registered in the Shankarnarayana Police Station.
