19-year-old College Student Dies in Railway Mishap
Mangaluru: A 19-year-old college student died after he fell off the train near Thokkottu overbridge here on August 16.
The deceased has been identified as Sharon (19), a native of Cheruvathur, Kasargod. He was studying in St Aloysius College Mangaluru.
According to the railway police, Sharon had boarded the Kannur – Byndoor train at 5:30am from Chervathur. The train takes two hours to reach Mangaluru. At around 7:00 am, the vendors of the chicken stalls nearby had opened their shops but had not seen anybody on the railway track. After some time when the passengers got off the train, they informed the railway police that they saw a body on the railway track near Thokkottu bridge.
The railway police immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the body.
Sharon’s father Karunakar said that he had dropped his son to the railway station and he saw him board the train at 5:30 am to go to the college. He must be standing near the door to get off the train at the Kankanady station.
A case has been registered in Railway police station.
