2 arrested for extortion call
Udupi: The police arrested two people in connection with an extortion call where they claimed to be aides of Bannanje Raja.
The arrested are Dhanu alias Dhanraj from Katpadi and Ullas from Malpe.
According to the complaint filed in Malpe police station on August 6, the complainant, Prabhakar G, who was in the construction business, had said that he was receiving threat calls from unknown numbers for several days.
However, on August 6, he received a call from a person who claimed that he is the accomplice of Bannanaje Raja and demanded Rs 25 lakh. The complainant was invited to a beach to hold talks. The arrested people had also issued a death threat to the complainant.
