2-yr-old girl rescued, sent to Ramakrishna Ashram
Mangaluru: A two-year-old girl was found abandoned in front of a shop in Bejai here, on July 21.
In the morning on July 21, a baby girl was found abandoned by her parents at Bejai. She was found by Merlyn Rodrigues, from the locality.
Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Chairperson of CWC Nikesh Shetty said, “On July 21, we received a call in the morning from the police that a baby girl was found in front of a shop in Bejai. A woman from the area lifted the child, took her home, bathed and fed her. She then informed an NGO about the child and the NGO informed the police. The police immediately contacted the CWC.”
Nikesh further said, “When the CWC team reached the spot, the police handed over the child into the custody of CWC. The child was feverish and there were bruises on her body. The CWC ordered the police to admit the child to the government Wenlock hospital for treatment. The child was treated for bruises and fever. In the evening, the CWC issued another order to shift the child to the government recognized NGO, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Puttur. Abandoned children upto six years of age are protected at the Ramakrishna Ashram. The child was shifted to Puttur in the evening and is safe at the ashram.”
