21-year-old Youth Murdered in Sonkalu, CPM Calls for Bandh in Manjeshwar
Manjeshwar: A 21-year-old youth was brutally murdered by a group at Sonkalu here on August 5 late night.
The deceased has been identified as Abubakar Siddiq (21) from Sonkalu, a member of the CPM.
According to sources, on August 5 at around 11:00 pm, assailants came in two bikes and stabbed Abubakar Siddiq. Severely injured Siddiq was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru but he succumbed to injuries.
In this connection, a case has been filed against three persons including BJP worker Ashwath.
Siddiq was working in Qatar and had recently come to his hometown. Primary reports reveal that Siddiq had raised his voice against the sale of liquor in Sonkalu which led to his murder. After the crime, the accused left the bike in which they had come and fled from the spot.
The DySP M V Sukumaran formed an investigation team of 15 members including two circle inspectors. The investigation team has already identified three of the accused and registered a case.
It is suspected that the accused are absconding from Kasargod and have taken shelter in Mangaluru.
In connection with the brutal murder of Siddiq, the CPM party has called for a bandh from 2:00 pm. In Manjeshwar, many have closed their shops and supported the bandh. The police have taken all the necessary measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
