21,292 Youth Voters Included in DK Voters List – DC Sasikanth
Mangaluru: “On the directions of the Election commission of India, we have conducted Express Registration drive and Special registration drive in various colleges in November 2018 in all the 8 constituencies. Through this registration drive, we have registered 21,292 youth to the voters’ list. On January 25, the National Voters day will be celebrated and voter IDs will be distributed to the youth”, said DC Sasikanth Senthil in a press meet held at his office here on January 16.
Addressing the media persons DC Sasikanth Senthil said, “According to the recent list published on January 16, there are 16,97,417 voters in the district. Compared to last assembly elections there were 16,98,868 voters and in the present list, there are 1,451 fewer voters. The deletion and adding process of the voters will continue till the announcement of the elections. If there are any issues regarding the deletion or adding of the voters, the political parties can raise them now. There should not be any allegations or misunderstandings during the elections.”
DC Sasikanth further said, “According to the latest electoral list the district has 16,97,417 voters, consisting of 8,33,719 male and 8,63,698 female. According to the population of the district, there are 75% voters. In 8 constituencies last time there were 1,790 polling booths. This time we have added 71 more booths and the total number of booths is 1,861. The elections are a big process for which the voter ID is a valid identity of a person to cast his/her vote. From next year we will adopt a new system to enroll the voters, there will also be an online registration system to get obtain the voter ID.”
