22 Years & Still Rocking! Revelers ‘Rain Danced’ at Eden Club Day Bash

Mangaluru: Rain showers in the month of December in Kudla? Strange but true, but that didn’t stop the revelers from partying hard at the 22nd Anniversary “Eden Club Day” bash held at Eden Aquatic and Sports Foundation lawns9, on a rainy Saturday night of 3 December 2016. It was indeed a time to party hard! And the party animals were even ready to dance on the rain-soaked dance floor?

This party in spite of hide and seek played by the rain Gods, gave a gush of adrenaline and goose bumps during weekend night. Believe it or not, the party took the revelers breath away with scintillating music belted out by the Dj, and the compere, actress, and anchor Sowjanya Hegde kept the fun going with her professional compere talents, added with a few witty punchlines. Oh, yeah- it was indeed a fun time to groove and shake a leg at the best “Club Day” party in town. The partyholics wrapped themselves in excitement and enthusiasm, and the shrieks of excitement emanated when the Dj emerged on the dance floor to crank up the music, together with Sowjanya entertaining the revelers with few games.

Well, the excitement didn’t end here! This all-dancing party was also a retreat to the reveler’s tummy, where they whet their appetite with yummy and mouth-watering appetizers that included scrumptious veg starters and non-veg starters. And it’s well known that without a drink or two there’s no chill at the party- for that matter, there was plenty of cocktails and mocktails because this party was all about dancing, munching and winning. Yo, it was an awesome weekend for all these Eden Club members, their family members to let their hair down with their friends.

Prior to all the fun and activities, the party kicked off with the lighting of the lamp and cutting of the cake to mark the 22nd Anniversary of Eden Club, by Eugene Rent- Managing Director of the Club, along with his wife, Commander Mascarenhas-the Club manager, and other board members- to the loud bursting of fireworks which lit the skies, and made the neighbors dogs bark in fear, and also probably made a couple of jealous ‘party-pooper’ neighbors angrier. Even though the rain showers ruined a little bit of fun and frolic, but everyone seemed to be happy and had beautiful smiles on heir’s faces, also very cheerful- they clapped, laughed louder and did enjoy the evening.

But as always, not to blame the organizers, but a couple of grumpy and angry neighbors, when everyone wanted to enjoy the night little longer, the curfew time of 10 pm restricted by the law enforcement officials dimmed the party and fun mood. Just because a bunch of neighbors can’t bear the brunt of sound past 10 pm. Come on–but how about the open air music concerts that take place during the festive time, where the loud music and fireworks carry on past midnight or till the wee hours. Is it just because a few politicians were invited for the event or because of the power of money.

During music celebrations to mark Dasara and Deepavali held in open air at Kadri Grounds, the celebrations went on till late night, and still, no cops bothered to stop it. And this happens, year after year. And for that matter, there are three hospitals close by, namely City Hospital, Vijaya Clinic and Tejasvini Hospital but no objections from them. When other party halls, pubs, functions etc are allowed to have loud music until 11 pm, why Eden Club is restricted to 10 pm sound curfew? This speaks of “Double Standard” of our law abide law enforcement personnel. Bah hambug! In conclusion, all I have to say, Sound/Noise pollution Laws have to be implemented/enforced equally irrespective of caste, creed, race, religion, partiality, festivals, locality etc. Period.

The game of housie-housie kept the revelers glued to their seats, anxiously waiting to win some hard cash, where the full house fetched Rs 5000 for a 50 rupees ticket- you can’t beat that! There were a bunch of games for the kids and adults, who seemed very enthusiastic and active to participate. Lots of prizes were given away from hard cash to ‘Cadbury’s chocolates’- which made everyone happy ad cheerful. This was a party of awards given to various winners in sports and co-curricular activities, entertainment, dance, music, food and drinks that winded on a scrumptious note. Thanks to the Eden Club management and the bevy of organizers who put up a great party, where everyone- some of them ‘wet’ who partied in the rain, while others ‘dry’ who nestled under the roof/tent, headed home with beautiful smiles and fabulous memories. Long live Eden Club- where the fun never stops!
