229 Persons Test Positive and 7 Die of COVID-19 in DK on Aug 16
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, 229 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 7 persons have died of COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on August 16.
Out of the 229 positive cases, 123 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), 6 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 22 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 78 others.
Out of the 229 cases tested positive, 122 persons are from Mangaluru, 36 from Bantwal, 31 from Puttur, 8 from Belthangady, 1 from Sullia, and 31 from other districts.
Meanwhile, 128 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
So far 8878 positive cases have been reported in the district and 269 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 2164 active cases in the district.
All the 229 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospitals for further treatment.
