23-year-old youth drowns in Malpe beach, another rescued by lifeguards
Udupi: A 23-year-old youth drowned at the Malpe beach while his friend was saved by the locals on Tuesday, September 12.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran (23) from Teerthahalli. His friend Abhishek was saved by the local life guards.
According to the police, four persons including Kiran and Abhishek had gone to the beach to have fun. While Kiran and Abhishek were having fun in the sea a strong wave dragged Kiran deep into the sea. Abhishek while trying to rescue Kiran was also swept away. The lifeguards and others at the beach managed to save Abhishek. The body of Kiran was later recovered.
A case has been registered in the Malpe Police Station.
