Madhwaraj to initiate departmental inquiry against Nirmithi Kendra
Udupi: “A departmental level inquiry will be initiated against the Nirmithi Kendra over alleged corruption in the work of the bridge constructed near Malpe beach,” said Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Affairs. He was speaking after visiting areas affected by sea erosion near Malpe beach here, on July 7.
The bridge constructed near Malpe beach is on the verge of collapse. Locals allege corruption in the work. Pramod assured of initiating an inquiry in this regard. A 200-300 meter long seawall will be constructed in Malpe costing Rs 3 crore to prevent sea erosion. The seawall will be constructed from Hanumanthnagar to Vadamandeshwar.
Pramod also said that the PWD Minister has asked for a detailed report on the areas affected by sea erosion. The deputy commissioner will estimate the loss and initiate temporary work. The detailed report will be sent to the PWD ministry for approval and financial assistance.
“As a temporary measure, boulders will be placed on the sea shores to prevent houses from getting damaged. The breakwater at Malpe port had been preventing sea erosion in the beach area but it’s efficiency has decreased in the last 2 years and sea erosion is on the rise,” he added.
Deputy commissioner in-charge Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant commissioner of Kundapur Ashwathi, Udupi Tahsildar Guruprasad, Udupi CMC president Meenakshi Madhva, Councillor Ramesh Kanchan, Congress leaders Satish Ameen Padukere, Keshav Kotian, Prashanth Poojary, Prakyath Shetty and others were present.
This Nirmithi Kendra has not done any work they undertook to the standard set. Look at the Mangalore Town Hall Job,how well it is done and how long it took. Look at the Police quarters ‘D’ Block remodeling Job in Shakthi Nagar, Kulshekar. I think investigation should be ordered through Lokayuktha. I have inspected the job at the request of Inspector Pramod and DCP Santhosh Babu. Still it is not done as per standard guidelines. Some of the stupid workers doing work under contract with hand in glove deal.
