Mangaluru: The department of Pharmacology, A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre conducted a two-day national-level training workshop for researchers titled ‘Pharma-Search: National Workshop on Drug Evaluation’ on the 23rd and 24th of September 2016, held in A.J. Auditorium. The inaugural function for the programme was presided by Dr A J Shetty, President of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust and the Chief Guest was Dr Dinesh Kumar B.; Deputy Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad and President of the Indian Pharmacological Society.
Over 250 delegates from various medical colleges across India attended the programme. Resource persons for the programme included Dr Bikash Medhi, Professor (Pharmacology) PGI Chandigarh; Dr Sheetal Ullal, Professor (Pharmacology) Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru; Dr Ramakrishna Shabaraya, Dean of Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangaluru; Dr Vinu Jose, Senior General Manager- Clinical Development & Medical Affairs, Intas Pharmaceuticals, Ahmedabad and Dr Sharath R. and team from Nextbio Research Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru.
Resource persons trained the delegates in Preclinical screening and Clinical Trials; which are of utmost importance in the field of Drug development. Delegates presented their scientific research papers at the programme. Also present at the Inaugural function were (Prof) Dr Ashok Hedge, Dean, A J Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre;(Prof) Dr Mohandas Rai, Organizing Chairman and Head of Department of Pharmacology,(Prof) Dr Manohar V R Organizing Secretary for the workshop.
