279 Persons Test Positive and 9 Die of COVID-19 in DK
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, 279 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 9 persons have died of COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district on August 17.
Out of the 279 positive cases, 114 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), 18 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and 65 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. The health officials are tracing the contacts of 82 others.
Out of the 279 cases tested positive, 163 persons are from Mangaluru, 49 from Bantwal, 25 from Puttur, 15 from Belthangady, 10 from Sullia, and 17 from other districts.
Meanwhile, 173 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
So far 9301 positive cases have been reported in the district and 286 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 2188 active cases in the district.
All the 279 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospitals for further treatment.
