28-year-old Man from Puttur Arrested Under POCSO Act
Mangaluru: A 28-year-old man was arrested for raping a minor girl in Puttur here on July 5.
The arrested has been identified as Ajith P (28) from Palaneer, Madnur Puttur.
According to the police, on July 5, at 7:00 am when the victim was on her way to school, the accused Ajith misled her saying that her mother was sick and had fallen near the big rock. Ajith then dragged her to a remote area and sexually assaulted her. During the assault, the victim lost consciousness.
After the girl gained consciousness, she went home and explained the incident. She was taken to the hospital where the doctors confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted by Ajith.
The victim’s family members filed a case against Ajith under section 376(2)(1) IPC, 3(1) (w)(i)(ii) 3(2)(v) 3(2)(va) SC/ST act and 6 POCSO Act.
Based on the complaint the accused was arrested by the Puttur police and investigation is on.
