3-day Shri Ramotsava Culminates in Burning of the Ravan Effigy
Mangaluru: Thousands of people witnessed the burning and bursting of the effigy of Ravan at the Nehru Maidan here, on April 6.
To mark the Rama Navami, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini, Matr Mandali and Shri Ramotsava Samiti, Mangaluru had jointly organized a three-day programme of “Shri Ramotsava”. The end of the third day was followed by a stage programme.
Addressing the gathering VHP All India Joint Secretary Surendra Kumar Jain in his keynote address said, “We need to make a Rama Rajya. Till now, the Hindu Dharma has not ruled the country. Now under the leadership of Prime minister Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath, he appealed to the gathering to work hard to “build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya because Ayodhya is the birth place of Sri Rama”.
Surendra Kumar further said, “This fight is not only of the VHP but is the fight of the Hindu community. It is a pledge of the Hindu community that until the Ram Mandir will not be built, Hindus will not rest. Until the Ram Mandir is built the souls of the people who have sacrificed their lives will not get peace. When the Ram Mandir is built, terrorism will end. After the construction of Ram Mandir, there won’t be any Terrorism, no one will not dare to assault the Police, no one will pelt stones in Kashmir, no one will run behind Tipu and no one will shout anti-India slogans”.
He also said, “Many times the media asked me don’t you have any other issue while delivering the speech. We are not against any other religion but until there is terrorism our country will not prosper. When terrorism will end our country will march towards progress. For any development to take place, Ram Mandir is the first step. I am really proud of Mangaloreans and the city. In the history of Hindu Navajagaran, the first page of its future will be written in Mangaluru because members of the VHP in Mangaluru are accepting challenges. Today we are burning the Ravan, the real Ravan is the anti-Ram. In the country, the Devotees of Ram are in power in most of the states in the country. In rest of the states, devotees of Ram will come to power and form the government soon. If there is support from Modi and Yogi, the dream of constructing the Ram Mandir will be fulfilled.
While concluding Surendra Kumar said, “Ramanavami does not mean that we only chant Ram mantra. We need to be united to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.”
Finally, the arrow from Lord Rama’s bow was shot at Ravana, who then burnt in a huge fireball. Thousands of people witnessed the destruction of Ravan.
Various cultural activities were held over 3 days to mark the Rama Navami. A temporary Rama Mandir and Ayodhya Nagari was erected.
