3 Kasaragod Bike Riders to travel 12,000 kms to Spread Awareness on ‘Plant Trees-Prevent Floods’
Mangaluru: The recent flood havoc in Kerala and Kodagu districts are still fresh in our minds- and while both these areas are getting back slowly to normalcy, still much more has to be done before everything gets back to complete normal. Many have blamed for the cutting down of trees and other vegetation in order to give way for infrastructure and rising numbers of buildings/multi-storey-ed structures- and to bring awareness on that issue three young men from Kasaragod have taken a initiative to travel 12,000 kms across India, to spread the message “Plant Trees-Prevent Floods”. And these three brave riders had made a pit-stop in Mangaluru this morning, before proceeding to Goa. And they were greeted by the members of ‘Mangalore Bulls Motorcycle Club, Mangaluru.
Rising back to life, from the state of destruction and devastation caused by the recent floods in Kerala and Kodagu districts, these three riders from Kasargod Kerala are gearing up for an adventurous “3 Nation Ride-India, Bhutan- Nepal” named as “Himalayan Odyssey”, spreading awareness to “Plant Trees and Prevent Floods”, and to fulfill their passion to explore the world on a motorcycle seat. Sudhir Kumar is an Electrical Contractor; Shan Kallangadi is an Entrepreneur) and Saheer Kumble is a Software Engineer turned Entrepreneur, these three deep throttle riders, with the support and encouragement from the members of the Mangalore Bulls Motorcycle Club, and also support of JCI, IMSC, Al-Masafi and KL 14 Motorcycle Club, will be enduring a long distance ride spanning across 14 states in India, and covering major places in Nepal and Bhutan.
Gearing up to cover around 12000 kms in 30 days which started on 10 October from Kasaragod, Kerala 4:00 pm, which was flagged off by KasargodDySp Sukumar, the three riders had reached Mangaluru last night, and stayed over-night to continue their trip from Mangaluru Police Commissioner’s Office, on 11 October at 10 am. Prior to the arrival of Police commissioner T R Suresh to flag off the Ride, Former Mangaluru DCP Hanumantharaya greeted and interacted with the three riders, and wished them a safe journey. PC T R Suresh before flagging off the the adventurous ride of these three “brave-hearts”, wished them safe journey, and said that he would see them back in Mangaluru on 10 November 2018. A few bikers of Mangalore Bulls Motorcycle Club followed the three riders until Kottra Chowki-Mangaluru.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Saheer Kumble said, “It was an initiative that all three of us came up with after seeing all the disaster and lives lost in the Kerala and Kodagu districts, and we wanted to spread the message about not to destroy trees, instead plant more trees and prevent floods. We don’t want people in other places in India to experience the tragedy felt by the Keralites and Kodagu people due to floods, which was mainly due to deforestation and the upcoming of buildings and infrastructure. The funding for our entire trip is borne by us three, without any help from others-but if anyone wants to donate towards the flood victims we will collect it and forward it to the concerned persons”.
“From Mangaluru we will head out to Goa (may stay in Kumta tonight)- and from Goa to Mumbai- Surat- Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Nepal (where we spend 8 days), Sikkim, Bhutan- and while returning pass through Kolkatta, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madikeri and culminate in Mangaluru/Kasaragod. If everything goes on well on our thirty days journey, we will return back safe in Mangaluru on 10 November 2018. We need support, encouragement and prayers from our fans, friends and other people so that we can accomplish this journey successfully. All the three bikers were cheered by the members of Mangalore Bulls Motorcycle Club, and also the Police Personnel gathered. The three venturesome riders will focus on spreading the message of the importance of planting trees, which will prevent soil erosion, thereby preventing floods. And regarding “Mangalore Bulls Motorcycle Club”, it is group of motorcycle enthusiasts from in and around Mangaluru, and the only thing the group members agree on is their love for motorcycles, with a motto “STRONG ALONE STRONGER TOGETHER”. The club was started in the year 2014 and presently there are 65 members, who apart from riding bikes for leisure fun, they also do community out reach program as a social responsibility, also collect funds within the club members and donate it to the needy people, like old-age house, schools, Palliative centers, ashrams, like that .
