3 Students Drown in Netravati River During Birthday Celebrations
Uppinangady: Three college students who had gone to celebrate their friend’s birthday at the riverside, drowned in the Netravati River on December 31.
The deceased have been identified as Firzan from Nekkilady, Mohammed Shahir from Perne and Mohammed Suhail from Nelydi. All the three were studying in Uppinangady government Pre University College in Second year PUC, Science stream.
On December 31, evening all the three along with other friends had been to the Netravati Riverside to celebrate Firzan’s birthday. But their parents were not aware of the birthday party. When they did not come home in the night the parents asked other students about them but were not able to know the whereabouts of the three ill-fated students.
When the parents persistently questioned the other students about the three, one of the students said that they had gone to the Netravati Riverside with a cake. The parents then intensified their search and found the body of one the students at the shore. At around 1:00 am the other two bodies were also found at the same place.
The Uppinangady police have registered a case and are investigating.
