314 Persons Test Positive For Coronavirus in Udupi Dist on August 8
Udupi: According to the district health bulletin, 314 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Udupi on August 8 taking the total number of positive cases in the district to 5919.
Among the 314 new cases, 192 are in Udupi, 87 in Kundapur, 30 in Karkala, and 5 from outside the district.
As many as 88 cases are symptomatic and 226 are asymptomatic. Among them, 164 are male and 150 female out of which 156 have contracted the infection from primary contacts, 69 have ILI symptoms, 6 have SARI symptoms, 79 are under investigation and 4 persons have a history of domestic travel.
The number of active cases in the district has now gone up to 2512. So far, 3347 patients have been discharged from the hospital after complete recovery, and 60 persons have succumbed to COVID-19.
As of now, 1540 throat swab samples are pending for results, 2030 samples were sent for testing on August 8 and 1379 samples were tested negative. So far, a total of 35982 swab samples out of the 43441 have tested negative for the coronavirus.
