32-foot statue of Madhwacharya installed in Pajaka Kshetra
Udupi: A 32-foot monolith of Dwaita philosopher Sri Madhwacharya has been installed on a 40-foot high plinth at Durga Hills Kunjarugiri in Pajaka Kshetra here on Tuesday, March 28 evening.
The monolith has been carved at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The statue weighs 110 tonnes. The plinth is 250 tonne with iron pillars and a 10-foot wide Padma Peetha. The base is 28-foot wide. Kunjarugiri is the birthplace of Madhwacharya. The land for the installation the statue was offered by the Adamar Math.The statue was sculpted by the national award winning sculptor Ashok Gudigar with other 50-60 sculptors. The Koira granite stone weighing 180 tonnes was brought from Devanhalli in Bengaluru on August 21, 2013.

The installation work started a few days ago under the guidance of engineers from Larson and Turbo and was completed on Tuesday, March 28. The statue was sculpted as per the rules laid down in the ‘Tantrasara’ text written by Sri Madhwacharya which denotes 32 styles. The Place would be an avenue for music concerts and religious activities and the statue will be surrounded by a beautiful garden.
