36-year-old man Commits Suicide in Hospital Bathroom, Family suspects Murder
Mangaluru: A 36-year old man allegedly committed suicide at a hospital in the city on September 23.
The deceased has been identified as Sheriff K (36) from Parpunja, Puttur.
Speaking to mangalorean.com Sheriff’s brother Mohammed said, “According to the doctors my brother Sheriff was admitted to the hospital on September 16. But we are not aware of his admission to the hospital. We do not know who admitted him and for what reason? But on September 23, at around 2:30 pm, we received a call saying that Sheriff had met with an accident and his condition was critical. He has been taken to the hospital. When we came to the hospital the hospital authorities said that the body has been sent to the Wenlock hospital. So I came to the Wenlock hospital and saw my brother’s body in the freezer. We have doubts about my brother’s death.”
Another relative of Sheriff said, “The hospital authorities said that Sheriff had hanged himself in the bathroom to the shower. When we checked the pulse and saw that he was breathing we lowered him and shifted him to the emergency. But after half-an-hour, he breathed his last. Sheriff was recently married for the third time and his newly wedded wife was with him. She said that she had gone to the counter and when she returned the bathroom door was locked from inside. I knocked the door but when Sheriff did not come out from the bathroom for a long time. I informed the hospital authorities, they came and forced open the bathroom door. Finding Sheriff hanging to the shower pipe in the bathroom, they lowered the body and sent it to the Wenlock hospital. They also sent Sheriff’s wife home”.
The family now demands a thorough investigation in Sheriff’s death.
