4 Die of COVID-19 and 225 Persons Test Positive in DK on August 4
Mangaluru: According to the district health bulletin, four persons have died of COVID-19, and 225 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada district on August 4.
Out of the 225 cases tested positive, 147 persons are from Mangaluru, 1 from Moodbidri, 19 from Bantwal, 29 from Belthangady, 16 from Puttur, 4 from Sullia and 9 from other districts.
Out of the 225 positive cases, 60 persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. One person had returned from the Gulf. Sixty-seven persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), and 20 persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The health officials are tracing the contacts of 77 others.
So far 6393 positive cases have been reported in the district, and 180 of them have died of the disease. At present, there are 3138 active cases in the district.
All the 225 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, 73 persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
