4 of a family drown in Tunga river
Sringeri (Chikkamagaluru dist): Four persons of a family met a watery grave in Tunga river near Vidyaranyapura Ashrama, Sringeri taluk on Sunday. The deceased are Ramachandra (35), Nagendra (24), Rathnakara (38) and Pradeep (25). Six persons had got into the water for swimming.
Nagendra, Rathnakar and Sudhakar hail from Belavinakoodige in Koppa, while Pradeep was working in a private firm in Bengaluru. They had visited Ramachandra’s house at Vidyaranyapura. All of them went to the river for swimming. After coming out of the water, they realised that Pradeep was missing. When they went to rescue Pradeep, all the three washed away.
Ramachandra owned a garage in Sringeri. Rathnakar was a carpenter. Police and fire service personnel later retrieved the bodies.
