5 Prisoners, 6 Police injured in Clash between two Groups in Sub Jail

Mangaluru: More than five prisoners as well a number of police were injured during a group clash that took place in the district Sub jail here on January 8.

According to sources, clashes errupted inside the prison between two groups belonging to two communities.

The group damaged the window panes and vandalized the jail premises. The prisoners were out from the cell for the evening tea and an argument ensued between two groups that led to the clash. The exact reason for the clash is yet to be known.

When the police intervened the inmates attacked the police. Six police and five prisoners have been injured in the clash.

DCP Hanumantharaya and team visited the sub-jail. The security in the jail has been beefed up following the incident.

A case has been registered in the Barke police station.
