5 PWD officers held for selling illegal sand mining permits
Chikkamagaluru: The Chikkamagaluru police have arrested five officers of the public works department for selling illegally procured sand mining permits from the department of mines and geology.
Police said that the officers had created sand mining licenses using fake records and sold them in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. There are a few complaints registered in this regard, in police stations of the two districts.
Those being questioned include assistant engineer Lokesh, executive engineer Lokeshappa and two others.
Udupi district police are camping in Chikkamagalur for investigations.
