50/50? State BJP Govt is 50% Functioning, and 50% of Portfolios are Held by CM
Mangaluru : Lashing out at the Karnataka State BJP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yediyurappa, during a press meet held at Circuit House on Friday, 7 September, MLA and former State Minister U T Kadher said, “Instead of providing the basic necessities required by the people who suffered during the recent floods, the state BJP government without empathy is snatching away the good facilities provided during the Congress rule. They have already decided to close down Indira Canteens, and start their own brand of canteens. Indira Canteens have been provided food at the lowest cost to the poor people, and now the BJP government is closing that facility”
“They have even stopped the distribution of Toor Dal to the poor and low income people. During the Congress rule, while we were providing rice which contains carbohydrates, myself came with an idea to also provide Toor Dal, which has lots of protein, and now the BJP government has snatched it away. Now the poor children are left without rich protein food which was obtained during Congress rule. The BJP government is alleging that there are way too many fraud ration cards, which is far from truth. If that’s the case, start investigating till you find the truth, but don’t stop the distribution of food for the poor people” added Khader.
Khader further “Many families have lost their ration cards during the recent floods, and the government has stopped providing food since many don’t have ration cards. Why can’t they distribute food, until the ration cards are replaced. People are in distress, and the government has turned a blind eye against them, which shows the total ignorance and non-empathy of the present government. If the BJP govyt has enough money to spend on road development and other infrastructures, why can’t it share a portion of the funds towards the food for the poor people”
“Congress govt had also provided sugar at cheaper rate, but that too the BJP govt has stopped it. They have stopped the supply of kerosene at subsidized rates, which was implemented during our tenure. Keeping in mind the difficulties and hardships faced by majority of the people during the recent floods, and other calamities, the BJP govt should reverse their decision and once again start all the facilities they had stopped after they came to power recently. It took few weeks to form a proper government, then it took few days to form the cabinet members, and still it looks like the BJP govt is functioning 50%, and the 50% of the portfolios are held by CM Yediyurappa. Why is this govt putting the lives of the people in jeopardy, by their silly decisions” asked Khader.
“Till today we don’t even have a proper designated district-in-charge minister, so the people have no one to put forth their grievances to be rectified. Regarding our PM Modi visiting Russia, and out of stunt sanctioning $ 7000 million to Russia, when Russia has given nothing to India in the past is not a good decision on the part of our PM. PM should take care of his country people first, rather than be a good Samaritan to people of other countries, when there is lots of poverty, and unemployment in India” added U T Khader.
When asked about his opinion on the resignation of Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, MLA Khader said, “I was shocked to hear about DC’s resignation, even though we had discussed few things couple of days ago, and he never showed any signs of quitting his post. But if DC has some issues with things that are not going his way or probably due to certain restrictions from Central govt, he is free to resign, and take a long break, until five years, or he can even return back after couple of years. But I feel that taking such a quick decision when holding a IAS qualification is not a good sign”.
“It is very well known that the Central government is putting lots of pressure on bureaucrats, and a result many bureaucrats have resigned from their prestigious posts. The Central govt should bring proper working conditions for the IAS and IPS officers, and it is learnt that the central govt is pressurizing IAS officers to take early leave for not obliging their demands. Under such a situation, how can you expect a dedicated and honest officer to perform his duties. In the case of DC Senthil, I have spoken to the Karnataka chief secretary to convince Senthil to take back his resignation, and return back to his post within five years, if he want to” added U T Khader.
Speaking also on the bit failure of Chandrayaan-2 moon mission, Khader said, “It’s sad to note that Chandrayaan-2 reached such a tragic stage. We should be proud and compliment the ISRO scientists who have made the entire nation proud with their efforts. Failures do happen, but in the case of The Chandrayaan 2 non-accomplishment which was a stepping stone, it will boost in more confidence among scientists to better next time. In the meantime, I have doubts that Russia might have played some games, since they have been jealous about India’s development in this field. India should do a thorough investigation into this,”.
