50,000 BD activists to Wear Datta Mala – Sharan Pumpwell
Udupi: About 50,000 devotees will wear the Datta Mala as part of the Datta Mala Abhiyan in Chikkamagaluru, said Sharan Pumpwell, coordinator of Bajrang Dal Karnataka.
He was speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club here on December 2. Datta Jayanti Utsav will be held at the Datta Peeta for three days from December 11 to 13.
On December 12, a Shobha yatra will be held at Chikkamagaluru. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad All India level Joint Secretary Dr Surendra Kumar Jain will address the public gathering. Around 50,000 devotees from across the state will arrive for the Datta Peeta on December 13 and take part in various religious rituals. 20,000 Datta Maladharies from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Kodagu districts will be attending. As part of the Datta Mala Abhiyan, Sankeerthan Yatra and religious meets will be held on December 11.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math will inaugurate the Datta Mala Abhiyan in the Sri Krishna Temple premises on December 4 at 10am. Around 20,000 Bajrang Dal activists from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Kodagu districts will wear the Datta Mala on that day in the presence of the Pejawar Swamiji and later proceed to the Datta Peeta, he added.
Sharan Pumpwell further said that the Supreme Court has handed over the responsibility of solving the Datta Peeta issue to the State government. We will continue with our demand for declaring the place as belonging to Hindus and for offering prayers thrice a day. Now, the matter is before the State government. It should respect the sentiments of the majority Hindus, he said.
Bajrang Dal leaders Sunil K R, Dinesh Mendon, Anil Kumar were also present in the press meet.
