60 Solar Lights Illuminate Kadri Park
Mangaluru: Don’t be left out in the dark, when you walk around or have a squat inside the Kadri Park- Thanks to Karnataka Bank who recently donated over 60 solar lights worth Rs 18 lakh to Kadri Park, which is undertaken by department of horticulture. Kadri Park is a popular park in the City, where people come here for exercise or walk or squat. The installation of solar lights has come as a major relief to people who frequently visit the park in the evening.
P Jayaram Bhat, managing director and chief executive officer of Karnataka Bank, formally dedicated the facility executed under its corporate social responsibility scheme. Noting that it is the responsibility of all to ensure all-round development of society, Bhat had commented , “Kadri Park in the lung space of the city and used by scores of people. Clean air and water are the basic rights of every human being. Therefore, it is the duty of all stakeholders to make proper, optimal use of the park,”.
Mangaluru City South MLA J R Lobo said Karnataka Bank has offered an important amenity to Kadri Park that is on the path towards development. MLC Ivan D’Souza said that Karnataka Bank has always been in the forefront of making contributions towards urban development projects and only reinforces the feeling of being our own bank. P I Sreevidya, CEO, DK ZP had thanked the bank for joining hands with horticulture department in further developing the park.
Mahabaleshwar MS, chief general manager of Karnataka Bank had said, “The bank has started various new initiatives under its CSR activities and solar energy production is one such activity. Use of solar energy as a green energy will reduce the carbon footprint of a nation and is in sync with PM Narendra Modi’s thrust on non-renewable sources of energy. The bank under one such initiative has provided solar lights to many interior villages in Udupi district that had no access to power.
