69th Republic Day Celebrated at Shivamogga
Shivamogga: The district administration celebrated the 69th Republic Day at the DAR police grounds, B H Road here on January 26.
The District minister in-charge Kagodu Timmappa hoisted the National flag on the occasion and received the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Kagodu Timmappa briefed on the various developmental projects initiated by the government and said, “India is a secular country where we have unity in diversity. The Republic day is a celebration of the superiority of the democratic system. Every citizen of our nation should think of their fundamental rights and duties based on this perspective”.
Kagodu Thimmappa further said, “Our country is progressing in various fields such as education, food, health, agriculture irrigation and rural development technology. Our government led by CM Siddaramaiah has implemented pro-people schemes. Today is a very proud day for all of us Indians because this day gave us the constitution written by Dr B R Ambedkar”.
The celebrations followed by an attractive parade by the police force, NCC, Home guards, Forest Force, Scouts, Guides and volunteers from different schools and colleges in the city.
Several achievers were recognized and felicitated on the auspicious occasion for their achievements in various fields such as social service, education, sports, literature and others.
