6th pay commission for Karnataka employees to be set up in 2017-18 -state
Belagavi (PTI) The sixth State pay commission would be set up in the 2017-18 budget, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in the Legislative Council today.
Siddaramaiah said during question hour that there was a disparity between central and Karnataka government employees’ pay scales.
He said the working conditions of central and state governments differ, adding, the state governments cannot formulate pay-scale on par with central government’s.
The state government has so far constituted five pay commissions and two official pay committees, he said.
The chief minister gave a combined reply to a question by Ramachandra Gowda, Capt.Ganesh Karnik, Arun Shahaur and Mahantesh Kavatagimath, all BJP.
Congress’ V.S.Ugrappa wanted to know the wages liability. The chief minister, who also holds finance ministry, said that Rs 25,000 Crore was spent on wages of the staff and Rs 12,000 crore towards pension in an annual budget of 1.63 lakh crores.
