7-year-old Boy Dies in Lift Accident at Vas Lane
Mangaluru: A 7-year-old boy died after being stuck between the lift on the second floor of an apartment at Vas Lane here on August 23.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Shimak (7) son of Mohammed Basheer.
According to the police, three months ago, Mohammed Basheer from Addur had rented the flat in Shama Apartments, Vas Lane.
On August 23, at around 6:15 pm, Mohammed Shimak along with his mother was going out. When Shimak’s mother was locking the flat door, Shimak entered the lift. The lift being old has manually operated doors. It is suspected that the boy must have attempted to come out when the lift started to move. Shimak was stuck between the lift and was severely injured.
Shimak was rushed to the hospital but breathed his last on the way. The Mangaluru East police visited the spot and have registered a case.
