7-year-old girl rape case in MP, NSUI demands death Penalty to Accused

Udupi: The National Students Union of India Udupi district has condemned the rape of a 7-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh and demanded death penalty for the accused.

In a press release, district president Christian D’Almeida stated that “Crimes against women and girl child in India have been rising despite tougher laws. As per the NCRB data, Madhya Pradesh tops in the most number of rape cases. It is really shameful. The State of Madhya Pradesh can be called as the rape capital. The BJP government led by chief minister Shivraj Singh has completely failed to provide security to women and girls in the state”.

“The government has passed a series of laws increasing the punishment for rape of an adult to 20 years in prison, but it is rare to see a few weeks pass without another report of a brutal sexual assault”.

“When it comes to rape cases, no excuses need to be made irrespective of religion, caste or creed and the culprits need to be given the death penalty. The state government should give justice to the minor girl by giving the death penalty to the culprit”, he said.

Knee jerk response. Whatever the punishment due should be given. Don’t jump to conclusions out of emotions.
