8.41 lakh students in State, 31,192 in Dakshina Kannada, 14,214 in Udupi Appear for SSLC Exams Today
Mangaluru: SSLC examinations conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board will commence today( Thursday), 21 March 2019 and end on 4 April 2019. On Day One, students will take their first language paper, and the examinations will be held between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm. Over 8.41 lakh students are appearing for this year’s SSLC exams in the state, of which 31,192 are from Dakshina Kannada, and 14,214 from Udupi. Among 31,192 candidates in DK, 16,645 are boys and 14,547 are girls, Exams will be held in 95 centres across the DK district.
It is learnt that Mangaluru and Moodabidiri taluks have the highest number of candidates appearing for the examination, which is followed by Puttur. Among 14,214 candidates appaering for exams in Udupi, 7371 are boys and 6843 are girls, and here the exams are held in 51 centres. Most of the centres in DK and Udupi have been equipped with CCTV cameras. As a precaution measure, restrictions are clamped around a 200 metre at all centres.
Students will be given 15 minutes extra time to read the questions. Non-analogue watches or electronic gadgets will not be permitted in the exam hall. Today,
the examinations began with the first language paper from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Proper seating arrangements, drinking water and toilets are arranged in the examination centers. Police security and medical facilities are provided through ANMs of local primary health centers. Chief inspector has been given suitable guidance to prevent malpractices and disciplinary action to be taken during such instances.
Susan, a student of St Ann’s High School ,Mangaluru taking her exams at St Aloysius High School, Mangaluru said, “I have prepared well for this exam, and I am very much confident that with all the hours I put studying all these days that I will fair good in the exams with good marks. I am all ready to answer my Kannada language paper today”. Ashraf from a High School in Ullal taking his exam at Capitanio High School, Mangaluru said, “I have been escorted by my father since this is the first time I am coming to this school. I only wish the question papers are not tough. But I have well prepared and will answer my exams without any nervousness”
With exam in Kannada paper held on March 21, on 25 March is Mathematics, English on March 27, Social science on March 29, Science on April 2 and Hindi on April 4. Team Mangalorean wishes all the SSLC students all success in their exams.
