9 Ton Prawns Die as Miscreants Poison Prawn Farming Ponds in Trasi
Kundapur: Miscreants poisoned a prawn farming pond leading to the death of nearly 9 ton of Prawns on Monday, July 9 at Trasi near Kundapur.
Miscreants poisoned two Prawn farming Ponds owned by Narashima Mogaveera a resident of Bantwadi near Trasi.
Narashima had appointed two watchmen to guard the ponds and was himself residing nearby to have a close watch over the ponds. On July 9 night at around 12:30, Narashima had examined both the ponds and gone to sleep. At around 4:30 am, he found a small plastic bottles floating in the ponds and later noticed the prawns dying.
All the prawns in the ponds weighing around 9 tons were dead. The value of the prawns is estimated to be Rs 35 lakh.
A case has been registered in the Gangolli Police Station.
