Body of Tiger Dancer Vasanth Found in Well at Kumpala

Mangaluru: The body of a tiger dancer was found in a well in Vidyanagar, Kumpala here on August 24.

The deceased has been identified as Vasanth Kumar (57) from Garodi. He was working as a welder.

According to sources, on August 23 Vasanth had applied colour on his body for the tiger dance as a part of Mosaru Kudike. On August 24 at around 2:00 am, Vasanth got down from the truck and sitting on the wall of the well. Later Vasanth went missing and the group of tiger dancers were searching for him till noon. The cap of the tiger was found floating in the well.

It is suspected that while he was sitting on the wall of the well he might have lost balance due to lack of sleep and accidentally fallen into the well. The fire service was called. The body was lifted from the well and sent for post-mortem.

A case has been registered in the Ullal Police station.
