‘Siddaramaiah is not even dust of Savarkar’s feet’ – MLA Sunil Kumar

Karkala: Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar lashed out at Siddaramaiah, former chief minister of Karnataka for objecting the award of Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar. Sunil Kumar said that Siddaramaiah is not even dust of Savarkar’s feet. Savarkar was a great patriot, philosopher, thinker and a revolutionary.

Commenting on the former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s remark on Veer Savarkar at Mangaluru on Friday, October 18 Sunil said, “Many people including Veer Savarkar sacrificed their lives for the freedom struggle, unfortunately, the Congress never recognized them. The Congress party insulted more than 100 freedom fighters during its administration. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah doesn’t know the history and the sacrifice of Veer Savarkar. As a former chief minister such comments are not good for his status, he should apologize”, he demanded.

On Friday Siddarmaiah during the Congress party worker’s meet in Mangaluru slammed the Modi government for proposing Savarkar’s name for the Bharat Ratna Award, while calling the later as one of the conspirators in Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. The former CM charged that the move exposed the fake patriotism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Savarkar was one of the conspirators of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and was later acquitted. Neither RSS nor the Hindu Mahasabha participated in the freedom struggle. They all sided with British, this government now wants to confer Bharat Ratna to these people”, Siddaramaiah had alleged.
