Finally Long Pending Pumpwell Flyover Inaugurated

Mangaluru: The long-pending Pumpwell Flyover over was finally Inaugurated by the public on January 1, 2020.

The MP of Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar had promised to complete the Flyover work by December end and inaugurate it on January 1, 2020. But he has failed in his promise to the people. On December 31, the Congress Fact-finding Committee visited the flyover and found that it would take another 3 months to complete the work. On December 31, the CFFC had announced a mock inauguration of the Flyover, if Nalin Kumar Kateel failed to inaugurate it by 4:00 pm on January 1.

Accordingly, the CFFC along with the public Inaugurated the flyover by cutting the rope. Prior to the inauguration, the protesters garlanded the cut out of Nalin Kumar Kateel with an expensive onion garland.

Addressing the protesters MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “From the past 10 years the flyover work is in progress. The MP of DK Nalin Kumar Kateel has given the date for inauguration for six times. Recently he visited the construction site at Pumpwell along with the journalists and fixed the final date for the flyover inauguration on January 1, 2020. We have given him till 4: 00 pm today to inaugurate the flyover but he has failed to do it. So we have kept our promise and inaugurated the Pumpwell flyover.”

Ivan further said, “At Nanthur Junction an underpass and overpass should be done but MP is not showing any interest. Polytechnic junction being an accident zone, Nalin has not done anything to avoid accidents. NH 169 Mangaluru – Moodbidri is in a pathetic condition and recently a doctor died in an accident. The MP should be ashamed that today we are doing a mock inauguration of the flyover. Even though in the Centre, state, district, ZP and MCC, BJP is in power the BJP leaders have failed to complete the flyover work in Pumpwell.”

Ivan also said, “The MP is useless and we don’t need such person as our leader. Nalin should resign from his post or he should complete the flyover work.”

Later cutouts of Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Vedavyas Kamath dropped down from the incomplete flyover.

Former MLA Moideen Bava speaking on the occasion said, “We have 7 wonders in the world. Now we are very proud that our MP has made the 8th wonder which is the Pumpwell flyover. MP Nalin Kumar has given promises 17 times and for the 18th time, he had given the time for inauguration on January 1, 2020, but is missing to do the inauguration. Our MLC Ivan D’Souza has fulfilled his promise and inaugurated the Pumpwell flyover. At the same time, I request the people not to use this flyover because it is just a mock inauguration.”

Recently when I was flying from Bengaluru to Mangaluru I found a lot of police outside. I read the news that Donald Trump is coming for the inauguration of the Pumpwell flyover. But when I came outside the airport I realized that Trump was not coming due to curfew in Mangaluru. People in Bengaluru and Hyderabad are curious and asking when the Pumpwell flyover will be inaugurated. They also question, why the Pumpwell flyover construction work is taking so long to complete. Hope after this mock inauguration, our number one MP will complete the flyover work soon.”
