Retailers should buy Fruits and Vegetables from Wholesale Merchants at APMC – Ajithkumar Hegde
Mangaluru: “In some places in Dakshina Kannada district, the spreading of Coronavirus is increasing day by day. To prevent the virus from spreading further the district administration has imposed some restrictions. The entry to the central market has been banned and the wholesale market has been shifted to the APMC yard in Baikampady. All retailers should buy fruits and vegetables from the wholesale merchants at the APMC yard”, said MCC Commissioner Ajithkumar Hegde S in a press statement released on April 7.
MCC Commissioner Ajithkumar has stated, “Those who have trade licenses to sell fruits and vegetables in Mangaluru should buy all the fruits and vegetables only from the wholesale merchants at the APMC yard. If anyone buys fruits and vegetables from outside it will be considered as illegal and their trade licenses will be canceled.”
He further stated, “The Mangaluru City Corporation during regular checking will check the receipt of purchase of fruits and vegetables. If the retailers fail to produce the receipt of the purchase of fruits and vegetables from the APMC yard, their trade license will be permanently canceled. The government will fix the rate of fruits and vegetables for retailers. The district administration has taken all the necessary measures and issued guidelines to be followed. I urge everyone to follow the guidelines and co-operate”.
A good move by MCC to shift wholesale fruit and vegetable buisiness to Baikampady.
Present central market area was planned 60 years ago based on then Mangalore’s population of a few thousand and has become so crowded and was long due to shift .
Baikampady APMC has a vast land to serve this business, which serve buyer and seller in a very comfortable manner.
If there’s any resistance Hopcoms or horticultural society may be romped for easy transition of this buisiness shift to APMC.
